Rhubarb and Cream
Roccoco lamps.
Often portrayed as the Queen of frivolity and excess, Marie-Antoinette used fashion as a powerful form of self expression, exposing to the world her determined, if reckless, streak of independence. Marie was an icon. She embraced the rising trends for Rococo style, which was filled with pale, pastel toned silks, heavily layered skirts and delightfully ornate and decorative elements including jewels, ribbons and ruffles. Pannier skirts, known as the guardainfante, were much sought after, constructed on an enormously wide frames that was sometimes up to 16 feet in diameter. Can you imagine!! We loved the giant scale, the excess, and the fun, so we decided to knit them! What emerged at the other end were these lamps.
A crazy feat which has brought endless hours of fun, delight and desserts. Our lamps are available to order and made by hand in knited wool and silk with glass crystal. We´ve called them Rhubarb and Cream because they are so good you could eat them.
